Profile

Rosie graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2004 with a first class honours degree in Design. With a strong interest in both practice-based and academic research, Rosie then began working with Jakki Dehn at Kingston University on an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded project entitled Creative Resource.  The aim of the Creative Resource project was to investigate from a historic perspective the role of designers in the development of materials made using recycled waste.  During almost two years working on the project Rosie was responsible for continuing the development of a dedicated recycled materials collection as well as contributing to the production of the Creative Resource exhibition at Barnsley Design Centre in April 2007. The materials library continues under the name Rematerialise.

Rosie is now nearing the completion of her thesis entitled:

"Design and the Material Cycle: An Investigation of Secondary Material Use in Design Practice".

The project was funded by an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award entitled Redesigned Futures which proposed to create new models for utilising surplus and waste resources in the design of manufactured products.  It was based at Kingston University www.kingston.ac.uk/sustainabledesign and in collaboration with London Remade www.londonremade.com.

Rosie is now part-time lecturer at Kingston University. She plans to continue with academic research, whilst also exploring the Tshapes collaboration.
